Fiorentina defender Nenad Tomovic insists there will be no bad blood when his side face Lazio on Sunday.

The Serbia international lined up for his country in their ultimately abandoned game with Albania in midweek.

Lazio defender Lorik Cana is the captain of the Albanian national side and could face a lengthy ban after he was seen fighting with Serbian fans who had invaded the pitch.

Despite this, Tomovic is adamant there is no ill-feeling between the Serbian and Albanian players.

“On Sunday it’s Fiorentina-Lazio and I’ll come up against the Albanian Lorik Cana,” Tomovic told Radio Toscana.

“I’ll willingly shake his hand, as I have done every other time and as I did on Tuesday before the game between our two countries.

“To me what happened in the Serbia-Albania game is already part of the past and I can’t wait to get back to playing football.”

Tomovic joined Fiorentina in 2012 from Lecce, and has spoken of his joy at the move.

“I didn’t cry, but I called my wife immediately to tell her the good news. Obviously I accepted immediately, there was never a doubt in my mind.

“Lecce was good, both the city and the fans. In that respect it’s similar to Florence. In football terms of course there’s no comparison between the two teams. I’m honoured to play for Fiorentina.

“I like the centre of Florence, it’s full of people, mostly tourists. There’s so much going on, it’s not an empty city. And there’s so much history, so many monuments.”

Tomovic also called on the fans to stay behind the Viola as they look to qualify for the Champions League.

“They need to be patient, and continue to back us as they have up to this point. Hopefully this year we’ll qualify for the Champions League together.”
