In the second part of his interview with Il Corriere dello Sport, Milan defender Fikayo Tomori opened up about his rapport with coach Stefano Pioli and revealed the toughest striker he’s faced in Serie A this season.

The England international won the Scudetto with the Rossoneri on Sunday following a 3-0 win over Sassuolo. It was the first Serie A title in 11 years for Milan, the 19th in the club’s history.

In the first part of the interview, Tomori spoke about the differences between Serie A and Premier League and said he hopes his first trophy in Milan is ‘just the beginning.’

Which one was the toughest game for Milan this season.

“The game we lost against Napoli because it was my birthday,” the defender said smiling.

“Jokes aside, the game at the Maradona was more difficult and those against Inter and Juventus and I don’t forget the games against Udinese. They are very physical and it’s hard to beat them physically.”

And how about the most challenging strikers he faced in 2021-22?

“Again, there are more than one. I think of Lautaro, Ciro Immobile, Victor Osimhen, but also Beto of Udinese. He is very fast. There are many in Serie A, but we are the champions.”

What’s his rapport with Stefano Pioli?

“He was very important to me, he gives me tips when I make mistakes. With a coach like him, it’s natural to give everything on the pitch,” Tomori said.

Tomori, 24, moved to Milan on an initial loan deal from Chelsea in January 2021 and Milan made his move permanent six months later. He has played 62 goals with the Serie A giants, scoring two goals.

  1. Victor Osimhen seems the striker every defender fears. He seems to me to be Seria A’s most dreaded striker.
