The Players’ Union President Damiano Tommasi has voiced his concern about the health of the players and claimed the early kick-off must be scrapped during summer months.

In Italy, the expected heat will provide an issue for Serie A, who work on the resumption of the championship.

Tommasi has pointed out that the matches must be set in the evening, as it’s ‘unthinkable’ to play during a mid-summer’s day.

“We live in a country where the problems of the pandemic has not been solved, so I think it’s normal to highlight the critical issues that must be addressed and resolved,” the AIC chief told Il Mattino.

“One of the major problems that we hope to resolve, is the matches at 3:30pm, which in Italy, in June and July, is unthinkable.”

Tommasi still highlights his concern about the health of the players involved and called for normal regulations when football resumes.

“Today, we have athletes who will have to play tight and intense games after a long period of inactivity and therefore we must put them in the best possible conditions, even from a climatic point of view.

“The players are not robots and therefore it’s clear that there are concerns, which also concerns the fact that if the championship starts again, you will have to play every three days.

“When it is said that ‘we must start again’, the decisionmakers are not the ones who enters the pitch. It’s obvious that the players express their concerns.

“It doesn’t mean that they don’t want to play, they want to do it in a normal safety situation. If you tell them to stay apart on the bench and then on the pitch the players mark each other on a corner but won’t hug after scoring a goal, it’s not a normal condition.

“Maybe in a month’s time, there could be possibilities of change in training, playing and solving all the critical issues."
