Ex-Roma star Damiano Tommasi will be voted in as the new President of the Italian Players' Association.

The current chief of the AIC, Sergio Campana, announced he was stepping down this month after four decades at the helm.

Campana was one of those who founded the union of players in 1968 and held the role of President right from the start.

“This is a great responsibility,” said Tommasi, who'll be voted in officially on May 9.

“The most complex challenge we face today is a slush fund to guarantee the minor squads.
