Players’ Association President Damiano Tommasi has urged Serie A to follow La Liga by scheduling summer games late at night, while he’s ‘perplexed’ by the Coppa Italia plan.
The Lega Serie A will work out the calendar on Monday, with the tournament resuming on June 20, while the Coppa Italia is meant to have the semi-finals on June 13-14 and the Final on June 17.
“This is about ensuring health and safety, so I hope the issue of kick-off time won’t become a problem,” Tommasi told Rai Sport.

“I would hope that everyone makes the logical decisions, seeing as we have so many games to play in a short space of time. I hope we can learn from La Liga and play later at night.”
There is the clash between television companies wanting to get the best slots for ratings and the players warning they will struggle in the heat of June and July.
The plan right now is to play at 17.00 local time, 19.15 and 21.30, although those could all be postponed by 15 minutes.
“I hope there are no particular obstacles to this, because it’s also about ensuring we get a better spectacle.”
The Coppa Italia will reopen the Calcio calendar, with reports the semi-finals will be brought forward to June 12 and 13.
“We are a little perplexed, because the semi-finals and Final are going to be within a few days of each other. It’s difficult to field your best XI in both those matches, so again I hope a solution can be found to give more recovery time,” added Tommasi.
