Juventus’ move for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo has collapsed and West Ham have swooped in to complete a deal.

The Bianconeri had been targeting the 24-year-old French defender for a number of weeks now and reports suggested that a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause worth around €35m was being drawn up but never agreed with the Ligue 1 side.

Juventus waited to pull the trigger on a move, despite the fact that West Ham offered better terms to Nice, and Todibo stalled as he hoped for a transfer to Turin. On Thursday evening, things suddenly changed and the defender lost patience with the Old Lady.

Gianluca Di Marzio highlights how Todibo has now decided to join West Ham and will fly to London in the coming hours alongside his agent and West Ham director Tim Steidten to complete the transfer. His medicals have already been booked for later today.

Juventus will now have to look around for alternatives if they want to add a new defender to Thiago Motta’s squad in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window.

  1. So sad and disappointed!
I don’t understand why all the unnecessary delays. I hope they learn from this and close all deals without any further delays
