Tite: ‘Neymar and Danilo back, Alex Sandro out for Brazil’

Brazil coach Tite confirms Neymar and Juventus defender Danilo are able to play against South Korea in the World Cup Round of 16 tie, but Bianconeri full-back Alex Sandro is out of action.

That tie kicks off on Monday at 19.00 GMT.

Most of the build-up has been about the presence of PSG striker Neymar, who badly sprained his ankle during the match against Serbia.

He missed the final group game with Cameroon and was a major doubt for the rest of the tournament, but Tite had positive news in his press conference.

“Yes, Neymar will play against South Korea,” was the response.

There were also concerns around two Juventus players in the defence, Danilo and Alex Sandro, and it is a mixed bag here.

“Alex Sandro is out, he is not in the physical or psychological condition to play. We won’t use him, because we respect the health of our players and he is not in good shape.

“As for Danilo, he will regularly be part of the squad tomorrow.”

  1. One of the twin engines shall suffice but don’t underestimate Sonaldo and co. They will also have to pay close attention towards the glorious return of Cafu. A marauding plodder honed, crafted and now the finished article under the expertise of PhD Max.

  2. Innit time for the haddock to be battered and a dousing in malt vinegar?
