Timothy Weah has fulfilled his father’s dream by scoring his first goal at the World Cup.

The 22-year-old broke the deadlock in the first half of USMNT’s World Cup opener against Wales on Monday.

He is the son of Milan legend George, the current President of Liberia, who scored 58 goals in 147 appearances with the Rossoneri, winning the Ballon d’Or in 1995.

Despite a brilliant playing career, Weah never got to play at a World Cup with his national team Liberia and, as highlighted by La Stampa newspaper, he fulfilled his dream through his son who scored in his first appearance in the competition tonight.

The Former Milan striker could have also played for France but decided to stick to his native country, scoring 16 goals in 60 international appearances.

Timothy also has a French passport but was born in New York in 2000 and made his senior debut with USMNT in 2018. According to La Stampa, his proud father is in the stands to watch Timothy in action tonight.
