Italy’s team doctor admits “time is not on our side” as Daniele De Rossi struggles to be fit for Germany.

The midfielder went off injured against Spain, and missed training today, making him a major doubt for the Quarter-Final on Saturday.

“Against Spain he suffered a violent blunt trauma,” Enrico Castellacci explained in a Press conference.

“We’re doing everything to have him back, but time isn’t on our side. We can’t make any pre-conclusions, even though we’re fully aware how close the game is.

“We’re monitoring Antonio Candreva day-by-day, he suffered a first degree adductor injury. His condition continues to improve, but the injury hasn’t healed.

“There haven’t been any relapses.”
