Roma director Tiago Pinto insists the Conference League Final with Feyenoord is only the start for Jose Mourinho’s project. ‘It’s strange to still have doubts’ after this season.

It kicks off at the National Arena in the Albanian Capital of Tirana at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Liveblog: Conference League Final Roma vs. Feyenoord

This is the first Giallorossi European Final since the 1991 UEFA Cup, which they lost to Inter, and could be the time they finally lift a major UEFA trophy.

“Clearly it’s an emotional evening, it’s easy to understand what this means for the club and the city. It’s a Final, we want to win for all the fans who gave us such support over the season.

“We can’t wait for the referee to blow the whistle and for the ball to start rolling on the turf,” Tiago Pinto told Sky Sport Italia.

Roma owners the Friedkins said this represents ‘just the beginning’ for their project and Tiago Pinto agrees it’s only the first phase.

“Reaching the end of the season and some still having doubts on Roma is strange. This was the first season, but we have brought Jose Mourinho to the club, we spent €90m, we played 55 games and improved in so many aspects.

“We have a very clear path that we want to follow and naturally after this we want to play more Finals.

“Aside from results, I feel the team has improved a great deal, we have off the field too, and are on the right path to give more joy to these fans over the next two years.”

Roma secured sixth place in Serie A, so will be in the Europa League next season regardless of whether they win the Conference League this evening.
