Roma director Tiago Pinto insists results won’t determine José Mourinho’s future at the Stadio Olimpico and adds: ‘Surely, I won’t go on holiday.’

The Special One is under contract until 2024, but his future with the Giallorossi remains uncertain and has been a huge matter of debate in the Peninsula, especially after Wednesday’s loss in the Europa League Final against Sevilla.

“We are tired after all these games. We have an important match today and we want to finish as high as possible in the table,” Pinto told DAZN ahead of the last Serie A game of the season against strugglers Spezia.

“We want to thank the fans for what they’ve done for us this season and end with a victory.”

Mourinho is not in the dug-out due after receiving his fifth yellow card this season during a 2-1 loss against Fiorentina last week. Pinto was asked for updates about the future of the Special One.

“I was asked the same thing before Matchday 1. The answer is always the same: our future is only today’s game,” he said.

“Things are clearer than it seems if you hear what the coach and we have said. I repeat I don’t want to talk about this today.

“I’ve always said that results are important, but they will not determine the future of this project.”

Mourinho had said on Wednesday that he was tired and would go on holiday on Monday after the end of the season and Pinto appeared to hit back at the Special One when asked if he will remain at the club beyond the summer.

“There is a game left and I have time for transfers and respect FFP. I have one certainty, I have no holidays,” the Portuguese director concluded.

Roma are one point above seventh-placed Juventus and haven’t still secured a Europa League placement this term. On the other hand, their opponents Spezia are desperate for the three points in the race for survival.
