Roma director Tiago Pinto wants his team to play Ludogorets with ‘fiery hearts and cold heads’ to stay in the Europa League.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 20.00 GMT.

Europa League Liveblog: Feyenoord-Lazio and Roma-Ludogorets

The Giallorossi must win this evening to stay in the Europa League, having lost 2-1 in Bulgaria, so have the inferior head-to-head record with Ludogorets.

“We cannot take our fans for granted and I really do mean it when I say they are extraordinary. But words aren’t enough, we need to repay them for their passion on the field and show our gratitude,” Tiago Pinto told Sky Sport Italia.

“We must play with a fiery heart and cold head. The stadium atmosphere fires us up, but we must also do what the coach says and follow his strategy.”

Nicolò Zaniolo saw his Europa League ban reduced on appeal, but is still only on the bench, as he is not 100 per cent fit and on Sunday there’s the Derby della Capitale against Lazio in Serie A.

“Those who work hard and earn their opportunities will hopefully make the most of them this evening. When Mady Camara arrived, he wasn’t physically in good shape, so needed some time to adapt. He is aggressive, can keep the ball well and pick passes. He is important for us after we lost Gini Wijnaldum.”

If Roma do progress, then they will face one of the teams dropping down from the Champions League in the play-offs.

The draw will be made on Monday in Nyon.

“A whole new season begins in January, in Serie A and Europe, so we need to keep focused.”
