Tiago Pinto says Roma have ‘worked all season’ to be ready for the Conference League semi-final with Leicester City and Jose Mourinho is ‘the right man to continue leading Roma towards success.’

The first leg ended 1-1 and the second kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

The away goals rule no longer applies in Europe, but VAR will be active today, unlike the rest of the Conference League so far.

“This is an evening we worked for all season,” Tiago Pinto told Sky Sport Italia.

“It is a pleasure to be here with at least a 50 per cent chance of reaching the Final, we are fired up and seeing the stadium like this, as well as all the fans on the road towards the Olimpico, it’s just fantastic.

“We want to play this as the most important game of the season, reach the Final, then there are also three very important Serie A games to play and we’ll see next season what the objectives are.”

Mourinho was announced as the Roma coach a year ago, a rather surprising appointment both for the club and the Portuguese tactician, but they have formed a strong bond.

“We announced Mourinho because of this, we were 100 per cent sure he was the right sporting leader for this project. He is involved in every area, working on the pitch, within the club, creating that union between the fans and club. He is the right man to continue leading Roma towards success.”
