Roma director Tiago Pinto had a combative pre-match interview in Norway, blaming the media for ‘trying to create confrontation’ with coach Jose Mourinho.

Their Conference League fixture with Bodo/Glimt kicks off at 17.45 UK time (16.45 GMT).

The pre-match interview with Sky Sport Italia immediately started on a combative tone, with the director’s angry response to a question about Mourinho repeatedly mentioning the lack of strength in depth.

“It is from September 1 that you have been trying to create some confrontation between Mourinho and myself,” replied Tiago Pinto.

“You did not accurately report the comments made by the coach. When we talk about the lack of options, the reference is to the age of the players and their experience.

“Clearly, if we want to make comparisons with Inter or Juventus, they have a different project in place and are playing in the Champions League. That doesn’t mean we are not united in our vision. You have been asking the same questions since September 1 and trying to create a problem that doesn’t exist.”

Roma also seemed irritable with the media following the Serie A defeat to Juventus and some contentious refereeing decisions.

“We are concentrated on what we want to improve as a team. Everyone saw what happened, but we are concentrated on improving. I don’t want to talk about referees anymore,” noted Tiago Pinto.
