Roma director Tiago Pinto thanks Paulo Dybala and others for ‘pushing through the pain’ to play in the Europa League Final against Sevilla.

It kicks off at the Puskas Arena in Budapest at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

The atmosphere in Budapest is extraordinary, as it seems as if Roma fans have snapped up most of the ‘neutral’ tickets as well as those allocated to them and easily out-number the Sevilla supporters.

There were even 23 charter flights that went from Rome to Budapest today, put on for the big game.

“At the end of the day, we can all talk about everything, but these people make the difference and we work to give them joy,” Tiago Pinto told Sky Sport Italia.

Dybala had a sprained ankle that put him in doubt for the match, but is in the starting XI this evening.

“Today it is Dybala, in the past it was other players, like Andrea Belotti and Chris Smalling, they all push through pain to keep playing for Roma. This makes us very proud. Mourinho also has a very strong bond with the players.

“The day I leave, you can say I was rubbish or made mistakes, but you can never say I didn’t understand Roma. It will always be a source of great pride for me that I was part of this club and know what it represents to the fans all over the world.”

Francesco Totti is in the stadium and during the warm-up was on the touchline, saluting and hugging everyone in the Roma squad and staff to fire them up for this Final.

“Talking about Totti is special, he is the greatest player in the history of Roma, we are pleased to have him here and hope he can bring positive energy to the squad.”
