L’Equipe were not forgiving when reflecting on the work of Inter striker Marcus Thuram in France’s friendly loss to Germany, giving him a scathing review.

Les Bleus failed to match up against their old rivals in their Saturday evening friendly at the Groupama Stadium, falling in a 2-0 loss after goals from Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz. It was a concerning result for Didier Deschamps’ side ahead of this summer’s European Championship.

Thuram started for France against Germany but was hooked off in the 61st minute to be replaced by Milan veteran Olivier Giroud. The Inter man showed little of note against die Mannschaft, managing just one shot and 12 completed passes, hardly having an impact.

L’Equipe were resoundingly unimpressed with Thuram’s work against Germany, giving him a pitiful rating of 3 alongside the caption: “Isolated, the striker never really seemed to be in the game. He missed an opportunity to beat the competition in view of the European Championships.”

The French striker has proven to be one of the most important players in Simone Inzaghi’s Inter squad this term, forming a formidable partnership with Lautaro Martinez.

Thuram stats

This season, the 26-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 2681 minutes of action across 38 total appearances.

  1. One of the most hyped up players because of his father’s name. He never has been that great at Inter, he had maybe 5 good games all season. That’s not even close to worth what Inter paying him.
