Borussia Monchengladbach starlet Marcus Thuram may well be ruled out for some time by a knee injury, so Inter’s transfer options are reduced to Lazio forward Joaquin Correa.

The Nerazzurri had three main candidates for the role going into this weekend and those are getting rapidly whittled down.

Atalanta locked the door on Duvan Zapata, refusing to even consider an offer this late into the transfer window.

Thuram had been a strong contender over the last few days, but he limped off 20 minutes into today’s Bundesliga match with a sprained knee.

Sky Sports Deutschland claim there is collateral knee ligament damage, which would rule him out for several weeks.

It’d also make a transfer extremely improbable.

Correa remains the only genuine option now, especially as Lazio left him in the stands for this evening’s Serie A opener against Empoli.

Director Igli Tare confirmed Correa had rejected an offer from Everton and wanted to join Inter, so developments are expected.

The asking price is €35m, with the Nerazzurri trying to lower that to €25m plus bonuses.
