Marcus Thuram has snubbed Milan for Inter and admits he watched videos of Nerazzurri ultras during the Champions League derby against the Rossoneri.

The French striker joined Inter on a free transfer after the end of his contract with Gladbach.

“I was supposed to arrive two years ago, but unfortunately, I suffered a knee injury. I had a new opportunity and didn’t hesitate,” he told DAZN.

Thuram insisted that he decided to join Inter independently and wasn’t influenced by his father Lilian, a former defender for Parma, Juventus, Barcelona and France national team.

“I took my responsibility, the decision to join the Nerazzurri was mine,” he said.

“My dad and I speak French, but I was born in Italy [Parma] and I spent ten years here. I love Italian food, and my favourite dish is spaghetti with clams.”

Thuram also had an offer from Milan but eventually rejected the Rossoneri’s proposal to sign for their city rivals.

“Everyone’s been nice to me,” he said. “Nicolò Barella and Federico Dimarco have made me laugh so much and I’ve spoken to Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

“I’ve watched the videos of chants during the Milan derby in the Champions League. The atmosphere was amazing.”

How does it feel working under Simone Inzaghi?

“He wants to attack quickly and move into open spaces, I think it suits my characteristics,” Thuram concluded.
