Marcus Thuram insists ‘there is a long way to go’ for the Scudetto, but identifies the key to Inter’s incredible form. ‘We love each other like brothers.’

The Nerazzurri showed no mercy in the Eternal City and gratefully accepted the gift of a terrible Adam Marusic back-pass for the Lautaro Martinez opener, then Nicolò Barella sent Thuram down the left to score the second, beating Lazio 2-0.

While they were clinical, that was certainly not true of the Aquile, who scuffed the finish with Daichi Kamada and Nicolò Rovella.

“We played well today, we are four points clear of Juve, but it is only December and there is a very long way to go,” Thuram told DAZN.

They traditionally had a poor record at the Olimpico against Lazio, not winning here since 2018, and are now eight points better off than last season.

“I try to do my best, help my teammates and win games. If I score, that’s great too, but the important thing is we all win. Barella is a great player and I am always pleased to get an assist from him.”

There seems to be a genuine bond of friendship in the Inter squad and Thuram assures this is genuinely the atmosphere in the locker room.

“This is a good group of lads who like to train and work together, we love each other like brothers.”

Inter are also into the Champions League Round of 16 and will discover their opponents tomorrow when UEFA hold the draw for this stage of the tournament.
