Marcus Thuram proved himself to be one of the signings of the season at Inter, but could his release clause cause anxiety for the Serie A champions this summer?

The 26-year-old Frenchman joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer last summer, penning a five-year contract, and he immediately hit the ground running in Simone Inzaghi’s squad, forming a strong partnership with Lautaro Martinez.

In his debut season with Inter, Thuram has scored 15 goals and provided 14 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions, announcing himself on the international stage ahead of this summer’s European Championship.

Thuram release clause

Page 18 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Thuram has an €85m release clause in his Inter contract, giving interested parties a clear benchmark to match should they want to snap him up this summer.

Despite his impressive season in the Lombardy capital, the Nerazzurri haven’t received any concrete interest in the 26-year-old yet and he’s looking likely to stay, but an impressive campaign at the European Championship could change things, especially with Kylian Mbappe leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

Inter seemingly have little to fear, however, as Thuram has never hidden his happiness at the club and may decline any offers should they arrive in the summer.
