Marcus Thuram insists ‘every game at San Siro is special’ after netting the late winner to beat Romelu Lukaku’s Roma.
The France international was watched by his father Lilian at San Siro this evening when he ghosted in behind Diego Llorente to meet the Federico Dimarco ball rolled across from the left.
That proved the only goal against a rugged Roma side, as Hakan Calhanoglu and Carlos Augusto both hit the crossbar, while Yann Sommer saved the only real Giallorossi attempt, a Bryan Cristante looping header.
The build-up was overshadowed by the Inter ultras trying to ‘make life hell on the pitch’ for their former hero Lukaku, whereas Thuram has more than filled that role this season.
“I don’t concentrate on these things, we simply wanted and took all three points. I am happy, I scored, the other things are of no interest to me,” Thuram told DAZN.
“I enjoyed this goal as much as the ones against Benfica and Torino. It is always a pleasure to score in front of our fans. Every game at San Siro is special and I am very happy to be here.”
Thuram has made an extraordinary impact at Inter in his debut season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 13 appearances between Serie A and the Champions League.
“I came here, worked hard and talked to my teammates. I can score or provide assists, but the important thing is that the team wins. That makes me happy.”
