Napoli may have failed to win the Scudetto today but there are still three ways they can secure their first Serie A title in 33 years next week.
Luciano Spalletti’s side needed to beat Salernitana to mathematically win the league title following Lazio’s defeat to Inter, but they were held to a 1-1 draw by Paulo Sousa’s side following a late equaliser by Boulaye Dia, forcing them to delay their hotly-anticipated celebrations.
The result majorly dampened the mood at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, forcing supporters to wait another few days before they can finally enjoy the party. Whilst their victory is in no doubt, failing to secure the title at home has disappointed fans.
Sky Sports Italia highlighted three ways how Napoli could win the Serie A title in next week’s round of fixtures.
The first and simplest of these is if they beat Udinese on May 4th, with the three points being enough to guarantee victory.
The second way is if Napoli draw with Udinese, but Juventus fail to beat either Bologna tonight or Lecce on May 3rd.
Finally, Napoli can win the Scudetto without playing if Juventus don’t beat either Bologna or Lecce and Lazio fail to win against Sassuolo on May 3rd.
