A number of Premier League clubs are reportedly tempted to pay the release clause in Kim Min-jae’s Napoli contract, which will become active on July 1, 2023.

Among them are Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham according to reports in the UK, all of whom have been rumoured to be interested in bringing in defensive reinforcements this summer.

As per Il Mattino, Kim has a clause in his current deal with the Partenopei that means he will be available for a fee of €50m as of July 1 of this year.

The South Korean international was only brought to the club in the summer of 2022 as a replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly, who departed for Chelsea after an eight-season spell in Naples.

Napoli spent close to €20m to secure Kim’s services from Fenerbahce and received an immediate return on their investment as the towering defender went on to pick up the Serie A player of the month for September after just two months in Italy.

However, after such an impressive campaign with Napoli this season, the €50m price tag is considered to be a bargain by certain Premier League clubs and the 26-year-old could be tempted into leaving the Partenopei after just one full season.
