Stefano Pioli and Milan have turned their home form around over recent months after a disastrous start to the calendar year and are now up to three months without a loss at San Siro.

Things could not have gone much worse for the Rossoneri on the pitch in January 2023. They started the year with a 2-1 loss away at Salernitana, before dropping two points in the 93rd minute at home against Roma four days later.

Then, they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia in extra time at the Round of 16 against 10-man Torino at the Giuseppe Meazza, which was followed up by a 2-2 draw against Lecce.

Milan were later beaten 3-0 by Simone Inzaghi’s inter in the Supercoppa Italiana, before shipping nine goals in the space of a week courtesy of the 4-0 loss to Lazio in Rome and the 5-2 defeat by Sassuolo at San Siro. Zero wins for the month, just two points in the league and a particularly poor set of performances at home.

However, fortunes have begun to turn around since then. Mike Maignan has returned in goal and with other factors at play, the Rossoneri have picked up a significantly better set of results in the months since then.

Five wins from seven games in fact, including two impressive wins over Tottenham and Napoli in the Champions League on their way to the semi-final stage of the competition.

With a crucial set of fixtures remaining in their quest of securing Champions League football again for next season, the upturn in home form could be crucial, with games against Cremonese, Lazio, Sampdoria and Hellas Verona coming up before the curtain falls on the 2022-23 Serie A season.
