Three coaching options for Catania

Catania have confirmed that they have interviewed Vincenzo Montella, but there are two other candidates for the Sicilian hotseat.

"It doesn't matter what impression Montella left, we still have two other tacticians to speak to," Catania chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco told Radio Mana Mana.

"Before I left for Argentina we drew up a shortlist of contenders whom we believed to have the necessary qualities to take charge of Catania. Montella was one of these.

"However, we'll soon meet with the two other options and then make a decision."

Gigi De Canio has been linked after he left Lecce recently and Lo Monaco conceded that the Coach's 4-3-3 system would be a good fit at the Stadio Massimino.

"We'll continue to employ that formation," the official added. "I've known De Canio for years and he's a boss that we are following.

"We'll have to wait and see though whether he is one of the Coaches who we will be talking to…

"The only certainty is that we'll make a decision on who will be our Coach within the next seven days."

Catania, also paired with Dario Marcolin, are looking for a new boss after they parted company with Diego Simeone by mutual consent this week.
