Erick Thohir is expected to react to the Fredy Guarin-Mirko Vucinic issue by upping his presence directly or indirectly at Inter.

The Nerazzurri saw a move for Juventus’ Vucinic fall through this week amid fans’ protests over including Guarin in negotiations.

The collapse has been blamed by Juve at Inter’s door, during a week that has seen former President Massimo Moratti and current director Marco Fassone both indicate that new owner Thohir would be better serving a greater presence in the peninsula.

The Gazzetta dello Sport speculate that the Indonesian is set to react and bring forward plans to implement changes behind the scenes.

Expected to arrive in Italy this week for Sunday’s match at home to Catania, Thohir is seen as bringing right-hand advisor Susie Hatadji and future Inter chief of financial operations Michael Williamson with him.

Williamson, who has previously worked as CFO for Thohir’s MLS club DC United, will stop over for three days, before returning in mid-February to begin his role for a projected initial three-year period.

Thohir, it is increasingly believed, will also look in the coming weeks to improve his presence, either directly or through a new appointment, at Inter’s headquarters, to act as an intermediary between the team and the club.

This is seen as a consideration that will further undermine Marco Branca’s position as sporting director.
