Inter President Erick Thohir confirmed talks with PSG for Ezequiel Lavezzi. “It’s not easy, we know that.”
The Indonesian businessman arrived in Milan for tonight’s Europa League play-off with Stjarnan, though with a 3-0 victory in Iceland this second leg is a mere formality.
Sport Mediaset quoted his comments when asked if there were any talks for Walter Mazzarri’s old Napoli star Lavezzi.
“Marco Fassone and Piero Ausilio spoke to Paris Saint-Germain and now I will meet them to see what the situation is.
“It’s not easy, we know that. There are four days left of the transfer market and we’ll see what happens.”
The official Inter website published slightly different quotes from the same meeting with reporters at the airport.
“We believe we have built a good team to compete in Serie A and the Europa League. There’s a good balance between experienced, senior players and younger players.
“As I've said before, our target was an average age of about 26 years old and we've achieved that. We're well balanced in defence, midfield and attack now, with Osvaldo, M'Vila, Medel, Dodo and Vidic coming in.
“So we're happy with the situation right now but in football you never know. The transfer window is still open. We'll try to think what's best for Inter.”
Thohir was asked whether he’d finance the arrival of Lavezzi by selling Fredy Guarin.
“We need to balance the books as well because you see there are some clubs who can't buy players due to Financial Fair Play. It's important for us to protect our interests because otherwise we can't play in UEFA competitions.
“Marco Fassone and Piero Ausilio together with the Coach are in charge of transfers, so let me check!”
