Inter President Erick Thohir says it will take two to three years before the club are at the level he wants them to be.
The Indonesian businessman assumed control of the Nerazzurri towards the end of last year, replacing Massimo Moratti at the head of the club.
“My objective is to take Inter back to competing in Europe,” Thohir is quoted as saying by FcInterNews.it.
“The directors and I, however, know full well that we will need two or three years to build a team that will be able to compete at that level.”
Thohir then revealed that Inter were his team of preference even before he took over at San Siro.
“Inter, incidentally, were one of the teams that I followed most and that I was passionate about.
“Personally, I like Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax.
“But Inter were the team who I followed regularly even in the past.”
