European Club Association President Andrea Agnelli confirms “the green light has been given” to a third UEFA competition, adding to the Champions League and Europa League.

The Juventus President also chairs the ECA, and speaking at today’s general assembly he revealed there will be a new European club competition.

“Pending approval of the UEFA ExCo, the 'green light' has been given to introduce a third competition, bringing the overall number of clubs to 96, as of the 2021/22 season,” Agnelli confirmed.

The format of the competition has not yet been announced, but it’s thought it could be similar to the former Cup Winners’ Cup.
