England vs. Italy wasn’t exactly the most entertaining match of the year and some Twitter users have called it the ‘worst game of the year.’

The Azzurri and the Three Lions met for the first time since last year’s Euro 2020 Final won by Roberto Mancini’s boys at Wembley Stadium.

This time, it ended 0-0 in an almost empty Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton. Only 3,000 children were in the stands, with accompanying adults, following punishment for England fans for breaking into Wembley Stadium for the Euro 2020 Final.

The Azzurri had a few goal-scoring opportunities in the first half, while Raheem Sterling wasted the best chance for England in the second half. Overall, the Azzurri put in better performance and perhaps deserved something more in this match.

Two more Azzurri youngsters made their debut tonight: Federico Gatti, a future Juventus defender, and SPAL striker Salvatore Esposito who was introduced in the second half.

Overall, it wasn’t one of the best games of the season, which is understandable, considering that the Azzurri have played four games in the last 10 days. Fans on social media were not impressed by the quality of the match and vented their disappointment on social media.
