Paris Saint-Germain’s Thiago Motta insists his international career is still alive despite his omission from the Italy squad.

The midfielder – part of the 2014 World Cup party – has been left out by new Azzurri boss Antonio Conte for this month’s Azzurri fixtures.

“The Coach is new and he is looking to shape the squad,” the Brazilian-born midfielder commented.

“I’m not disappointed that I’ve been left out, but if Conte feels that I could do well in his national side then I will be delighted.”

Motta, formerly of Genoa and Inter, has scored one goal in 23 games for Italy.

The Azzurri will face Holland in an international friendly this evening, before taking on Norway on September 9 in their first Euro 2016 qualifier.
