Thiago Motta reveals he “asked Inter President Massimo Moratti to give me this opportunity to join Paris Saint-Germain.”

The Nerazzurri had stated repeatedly that they wanted to keep the midfielder, but he completed a transfer deadline day move to France.

“I am very happy to be here, in an ambitious and prestigious side like Paris Saint-Germain,” said the player in his press conference.

“I’m also pleased to be reunited with old friends and am extremely motivated. I asked Inter President Moratti to give me this opportunity to join Paris Saint-Germain, as there comes a time in which a player has to have a change of scenery.

“This was a chance I really wanted to take. There were no problems with Inter, as I always got on well with all the Coaches I worked with and playing here is a privilege. Coming to Paris was a personal and professional choice.

“I won everything there was to win with the Nerazzurri and now I want to do the same with PSG.”

Thiago Motta hopes leaving Serie A will not affect his chances of staying in the Euro 2012 squad.

“I really want to be there for the European Championships. There is a lot of competition, but I’ll do my best to defend the Azzurri jersey.”
