Thiago Motta insists that Weston McKennie is a ‘valuable’ player for Juventus, while Timothy Weah is ‘predisposed’ to improve.

McKennie and Weah will be available for Juventus’ Serie A opener against Como on Monday, August 19.

The midfielder had been frozen out of the first team during the pre-season, but he was recently reintroduced after a meeting with the Bianconeri boss.

“McKennie is a valuable player for our needs. Tomorrow, we have 19 players available, and only 11 can play,” Motta said at a press conference on Sunday.

McKennie’s compatriot, Weah, is in an entirely different situation. He was a regular starter during the pre-season and one of the most convincing players.

“Weah can still improve in everything, but he is predisposed to do it,” argued Motta.

“I am not surprised. I knew him when he was very young, and now he is the right age to do well. Surely, he will help the team.”
