A former Serie A coach is the favourite to replace Thomas Tuchel at PSG, claim RMC Sport, but it’s Thiago Motta rather than Max Allegri.

Tuchel took his team to the Champions League Final in August, but they have stuttered so far this season and the tactician openly clashed with director Leonardo over transfer strategy.

It’s rumoured an exit could well be imminent and until now, former Juventus boss Allegri had been considered the most likely alternative, with Mauricio Pochettino also of interest.

It’s rumoured an exit could well be imminent and until now, former Juventus boss Allegri had been considered the most likely alternative, with Mauricio Pochettino also of interest.

However, RMC Sport in France now point towards Thiago Motta as the main candidate instead.

It would be a radical change of direction, as 38-year-old former Inter, Genoa and PSG midfielder Thiago Motta only retired in 2018 and had one season as the youth team coach at Paris Saint-Germain.

He then had a brief and tumultuous experience on the bench of Genoa, lasting from October to December 2019.

During that tenure, Thiago Motta amassed two wins, three draws and five defeats.
