As Juventus scraped just one point from three games this season and Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice on his Manchester United debut, supporters clashed over how much influence CR7 really has at club level.

The Bianconeri have had a dismal start to the campaign under returning coach Max Allegri, drawing 2-2 with Udinese and suffering back-to-back defeats against Empoli and Napoli.

At the same time, Ronaldo made his ‘debut’ for Manchester United in this afternoon’s Premier League match with Newcastle United, finding the net twice in the 4-1 victory.

Serie A Highlights: Napoli 2-1 Juventus

Somewhat inevitably, these two events within hours of each other revived the online debate about how much Ronaldo had brought to the Juve side over the last three years.

It comes after many Bianconeri supporters had said they were pleased the Portugal international was moving on, as in theory his departure would allow Juventus to play more as a collective and less to provide service for the Capocannoniere.

  1. @Rosario
The ability to score easy goals is oftenly underestimated. Nobody will be surprised if CR7 scores another 20+ league goals in EPL this season.
CR7 project really was a failure in Juve, but not the player himself. It’s more like Juve couldn’t actually afford him and sacrifice too much financially that makes them fail to regenerate the overall squad

  2. Not surprised CR7 left the Arsenal little boys club of European football thinking they are some world giant. Could see the look of disgust in Ronaldo’s face everytime the Arsenal reject Szczesny decided to do his clown act

  3. @Rian.

Who is underestimating ‘easy goals’? I’m saying the keeper was horrific. The first is woeful keeping…literally assisting the goal. the second – the ball seems to be going towards his midriff, but somehow messes it up and allows it to go thru his legs. Terrible goalkeeping. There wasn’t even much pace on the shot with his left food.

CR7 project really was a failure in Juve, but not the player himself?? You’re just offering information. I couldn’t care less about Juventus.

  4. ??? So if Ronaldo had still been at JUVE, Woj woulden’t have made 3 clear goalie errors resulting in 3 goals and JUVE losing points???

  5. a season is a marathon not a sprint. there will come a point in the season when ronaldo will start to show his age. juve just has to continue towork. but allegri got to help the team by taking szceszny out the bars. you cant have the team working hard for a lead and szcezsny idiotic goalkeeping causing the team points.

  6. @Rosario, he simply doesnt care who is score and how he score it against be it a mickey mouse keeper or any top goalkeeper in your opinion.

  7. its funny people always said ronaldo scored easy goals. yet on history of football nobody scores more goals than him not even maradonna or messi. both of them great player but in term of goal scoring ronaldo bit better than them.
everyone always said they will another player like ronaldo but no one can be messi or maradonna and yet we never saw any player scoring goal like ronaldo since football invented , now or in the future.
what really funny juventus fans wanted ronaldo gone for more collective play yet on today interview after game chiellini himself said juventus will be build on dybala, mean juventus gonna play like before, supplying ball to ronaldo then, and dybala now.its not just chiellini even allegri always maintain he will make dybala centre piece of new juventus. they want more collective play and yet the club playing the same with or without ronaldo.

  8. Look Ronaldo is a great player but he is a selfish player and he is a poison to the locker room. Ye haw he scored 2 goals against New Castle take it easy people Juve will get it together. Ronaldo is gone let’s move on.

  9. listen CR7 doesnt have to score anymore goals …hes already scored the most. but him scoring a re-debut brace shows how great he is. doesnt matter who the opponent was, still on a high level in a top league. i think its a shame he left Juve and Serie A. even tho im not a big fan of either him or Juve but would of liked to see them in a CL final or if Zizou came to coach what a interesting season it mighta been. fans seem to be happy hes gone but i think its a big loss. and wouldnt be surprised if it comes back to haunt them again in CL.

  10. Better players than Ronaldo have left Juve in the past just like Baggio and Zinedine but you move on and get on with it. At present it’s Allegri that is the problem.

  11. Real Madrid played to Ronaldo strengths, but they were able to succeed as they had extraordinary providers. Juventus did play to ronaldo’s strength but couldn’t succeed to do that because of their third tier midfield. If ronaldo was costly why get him and then blame him. Everyone knew he needs providers as he is technically a goal scorer since his injury after 2014 or 2015. He had to force himself to turn the way he is because of the injury, yet presents with magic more times than almost every player on globe maybe on par with messi or just below or above considering who like whom.
It’s absolutely Juventus’s judgement that’s costing juve. Zidane wasn’t alone or baggio or teams that reached finals twice in three years. If they can’t afford ronaldo and a team why go for ronaldo and make him culprit when you are the one’s who couldn’t provide a quality team behind him. Ronaldo loved the fan’s support when he scored against them and accepted the offer from Juventus as he felt loved. Now he doesn’t feel that because of the way people are pinpointing him for the collective failures even when he on his individual level is successful and it’s the team that’s not successful. And the coach was the first one to decide that he doesn’t want ronaldo. Even though he puts on his mask in press conferences to say it was ronaldo’s decision, so he didn’t cheat on Juventus and they hurt him by showing false impressions in front of camera while the reality was different. It’s natural to any human to understand if someone doesn’t want you.
Grow up guys. Be as rich and famous as him and you would know he deserves to have self love for all he has achieved in his life. I am both messi and ronaldo’s fan for different aspects.

  12. Whatever ones opinion on Ronaldo vis-a-vis Juve .. it was anyways going to be his last season .. move on! And he wanted to go somewhere where hell be the focus of all limelight and adulation!!

  13. Ammmm I am confused? Who are the new editors? Why are these editorials still about Ronaldo, as a juve fan, Napoli played fantastic, give them the credit, so are inter and and Milan… yes they are my rivals, but bringing up stale old news about past players who don’t even play in the same leagues nonsensical… find new editors soon please.. or else I will write about how I miss the old ones

  15. Rubbish comments Ronaldo was not Juventus problems, they fail to acknowledge him as a super star and feed him the ball to score,he single handedly score goals by him self which is bad,you can see the assist made by Luke sure and the one in Portugal he broke is record thats the kind of assist he need which he never gets from juv players…just and see how life goes before he retires.like it or not no one can be like Ronaldo ever in this life,he as surpassed the greats and still going further Messi will only be at his back in every world game..

  16. Just wanted to drop by and congratulate juvetini with a splendid mercato.

Turns out Nedved is as good a sporting director as he looks.

Agnelli is nowhere to be seen these days, wonder why?

Maybe hes to busy trying to rebrand himself the “not posterboy of the Super League”

Juve wanted to be considered among the big boys in Europe with CR7 signing.

3 years later he leave 3 days before the mercato ends on his request, effectively demonstrating he was always bigger than the club.

Funny thing about that is Agnelli and Nedved seem to agree.

Donnarumma and Pirlo say hello btw. Good luck chasing 4th again.

  17. My dear friends the question is Juventus so-called “Legends” and Fans alike crucified CR7 for the average performance during the 2020-21 season, now that CR7 moved out of the Juv look at their condition so, we are bound to question Juvi for blaming CR7. If Juve fans and legends are thinking it is easy to shift the blame on one person when they have a pathetic squad – you need to think again… instead of talking, prove by winning points and scoring goals. No team is smaller and scoring isn’t easy against any team – you should know better because you are losing against so-called smaller teams in Serie A. Juve may think nothing is wrong with their team but that is okay – We CR7 fans are fine with your delusion because we don’t care. CR7 moved on and now he is at a place where he is respected and he is happy. Now, you can go back to build your team around rock or Dybala we simply don’t care.

  18. The Juventus board is a mess, and is full of jokers and mediocres. How can you miss such a world class talents and physically imposing goal keeper, like Donnaruma? And have the guts to tell us, because of this useless sjcezeny. We’ll be fine.

Juventus is going to struggle this season, not because of Ronaldo, far from it. But our defence. The goal keeper and our wing backs are major concern, they’re average. Chiesa -Dybala – Kairo Jorge and the rest will be banging goals for us. But it’s our protection of those goals, that’s going to be the bone of contention.

Ronaldo gut nothing new or more to add to Juventus on sporting terms in the field. With the way football has evolved in modern times, you don’t just rely on one player to win. Ronaldo was highest goalscorer in Seria A last season, Juventus struggle to even make it to the CL, then Inter Milan which was a complete unit, won the league with style and pace.

Same thing to the current Italian national team, no definite goal poacher, but are so formidable to be crowned champions of Europe and a potential world champion. Juventus don’t need Ronaldo, we need a formidable and effective winning team. I strongly believe Mr. Max Allegri can turn things around, with sjcezeny taking the bench from our next game.

  19. Juve suck just now, but man, do we have to keep hearing about Ronaldo? He’s gone. His crazed fas have ruined most social media pages for Italia fans. Let’s stop talking about the guy and enjoy our game. His ego is big enough as it is.

  20. Szczesny out! What does this man have to do to get dropped? Makes no sense. This Juve hierarchy are an absolute joke!

  21. When you have a clown of Sczesny as a goalkeeper who can easily throw away points….that team is really doomed

  22. One player doesn’t make a team. That’s usually the garbage you hear from Messi v Ronaldo fan boys.
Juve were poor with Ronaldo, and they’re poor without him. Probably worse, in fact, as he was their only real goalscorer.
Who’ll get 20+ goals in this squad? Hard to see anyone, unless Kean wakes up and becomes a real pro.
But Juve might slowly recover without having Ronaldo’s huge wages to cater to.
But it’ll take time – this is the worst Juve squad in a long, long time.
Donnarumma for Sczcescy should have been a priority, and getting Ramsey off the wage bill too.
Top 4 is still possible, but that’s more down to the fact that the rest are nearly as bad or worse than Juve.
As for Ronaldo’s 2 goals v Newcastle, that doesn’t mean much. He and Lukaku should score plenty against the cannon fodder in the epl.

  23. Wow all these ronaldo fan boys! Get a grip will u, even the article highlights ronaldo fan boys! He’s gone finished, end of goodluck to him and his ego

Yes he scored lots of goals for juve but the set up at juve is a mess and the squad needed rebuilding several seasons back! He just added to the financial weight and his goals covered some cracks..anyone with half a brain would see this coming and it’s a long over do transition time

Not sure allegri is the answer but right now we just need to get back to basics and also move on dead weight within the squad itself

People need to get over the ronaldo issue and anyone saying look what juve are missing just because he scored two goals again a huge amazing club like Newcastle at home well they don’t know anything he will always score goals esp now in the EPL the defenders are so so poor and juve are poor too

GK massive problem has been for 2 seasons or so and lack of quality and pace shows through the team the middle of the team is disjointed even when we had pjanic!

Last time juves midfield was actually great was Pirlo Vidal Marchisio and Pogba

  24. Ronaldo was and wasn’t the problem for Juve. I never really liked his personality, especially at Madrid. But one thing you can’t deny that he is a top class player with the desire win. Always hungry for goals, which sometimes made him selfish and only thinking about his goal scoring records.
I agree with some comments on here regarding feeding the ball to Ronaldo and providing him assistance which he never really got because our midfield was useless and the boring tactics of playing the ball back to defence or the keeper. Alex Sandro can’t cross the ball in to save his life etc.
I think if Juve hired a different manager other than Allegri, such as Zidane, Conte or Ancelotti he might have stayed.
Ronaldo is gone, and we have other problems. The board need to pull their finger out, because as its going we’re going to be the Arsenal of Serie A.

  25. Agree with @Ferban, Mike, Manni

Perin should start from now on. In Jan transfer window Juve should go for a swap loan deal with Parma between Buffon and Szczesny and pay 80 – 90% of Szczesny’s salary ❗❗

  26. CommentKevin De Bruyne and Trent Alexander Arnold fan here.

Ronaldo wasn’t Juve’s problem, guys. They shouldn’t have signed him in the first place, if they hadn’t had the intention to addapt their game to his style. He needs long passes and crosses to overrun the defence. This is where his strength is.
If you buy a Ferrarri you can’t drive it on bad roads, it needs super fast, straight and 1st class roads.

As for Ronaldo, he saved Juve many many times and masked the mediocre and boring team they are. Yes, I think all Italian teams, exept the Conte/Ancelotti ones, play slow, predictable and boring football. That is why after Van Basten’s spell at Milan people from around the globe stopped watching Italian football. Boring, really boring.

Juventus, as well, play really slow and boring football with 1 000 000 short passes before reaching the oponent’s small field. They don’t send the ball fast forward, their keeper is the worst one in Italy, and a smoker at that, and the defence … well, you can’t score 3 goals and make a draw or lose the game afterwards! Even Ronaldo and Messi playing together and getting fed by my boy KDB wouldn’t be able to win you games with that defence, total lack of a midfield and a horrible keeper.

    Juventus:

    1. Should’ve brought a better keeper – PSG got Donnarumma for free.
    2. Shouldn’t have sold Cancelo and Kean – the boy would’ve grown and matured under Ronaldo’s wing.
    3. Shouldn’t have let Super Mario go that way. They showed total disrespect and I felt bad for the guy.
    4. Shouldn’t have brought Rabio, Ramsey and the likes – I don’t see any motivation and desire in them to win games and really perform at the highest level. They stey there only because of the big money they get paid for doing nothing.
    5. Shouldn’t have bought the quite expensive – Arthur Melo, Number 44 – Kulusevski – horrible, wastes 99% of the balls and scores nothing, and the likes…
    7. Should’ve brought in Bruno Fernandez, Cavani, Suarez and Ramos.
    8. Please, don’t bring in the Icardi family – horrible! That would be the worst possible signing!
    9. They practically do NOT have midfield – and this is the most important thing in football! Think of Xavi and Iniesta – without them Messi has won nothing with Barcelona, and with them Spain won 1 World cup and 2 Euro championships! I love those two and thing they both should’ve won Balon D’Ors!

As for CR7 – I regret the transfer to Man City never happened. With the balls fed to him by my boy, Kevin De Bruyne, and the rest of the squad – they would have been unbeatable!

  27. True. He wanted to go back to Real but they didn’t want him. He is not even the best. player called Ronaldo in my opinion.

  28. @Andy Italian Football boring?? You don’t watch Italian Ftbl .. and then the huge comment?? Continue to watch exciting EPL football .. high speed, no tactics as well as exciting England National Team❗❗
