Although Theo Hernandez’s contract expires in 2024, La Gazzetta dello Sport stresses that Milan must open talks to extend his stay at the club ‘as soon as possible.’

The 24-year-old impressed in the Nations League’s Final Four with one goal and one assist in two games.

His €1.5m-a-year salary expires in June 2024, but his performances for club and country have attracted interest from many European giants.

Therefore, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan need to triplicate the Frenchman’s wages, offering him a €4.5m-a-year salary, to avoid issues in the near future.

According to the report, Hernandez’s transfer value is now in the region of €50m. The Rossoneri signed him from Real Madrid in a €21m deal in 2019.

The Diavoli saw Gigio Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu leave San Siro last summer at the end of their contracts.

They want to avoid facing the same scenario with Theo and Franck Kessié. However, the contract of the Ivorian midfielder runs out in the summer and the two parties are nowhere close to reaching an agreement over a new deal.
