Zoe Cristofoli, the partner of Milan left back Theo Hernandez, opened up about her confrontation with thieves in their home, asking for something to be done.

Back in October 2022, burglars broke into Hernandez’s home whilst he was away with his Rossoneri teammates and discovered Cristofoli and their son, as well as a nanny and cook. Four hooded thieves threatened her at gunpoint and stole numerous valuables from the family before escaping, leaving a shaken Cristofoli.

Italian musician Roby Facchinetti was robbed inside his villa in Bergamo recently, prompting Cristofoli to remember her own experience and ask for serious changes to be made to protect people.

Writing on her Instagram story, Cristofoli recalled the fear and panic she felt when confronted by armed thieves at home.

“Once again the same story. After months no news. I wake up and every day identical news. Same dynamics, same gangs, same animals…. You work a life, you buy things neatly and then they come into your house while you’re having dinner or on your way out of the gate….

“They beat you and scare you almost to death, they touch your child, they steal everything you have… they take away your will, your serenity to live. Well, today I speak.

“I am tired of living in a country where, I understand, we are overburdened with cases, with these situations, but can one live like this? In the hope that someone will do something?

“And in the meantime these people live and live in our country happy and carefree…. Because I assure you, they spoke Italian better than I did but they were not Italian at all (they spoke then in their own language).

“And so I ask myself who should I turn to for justice? And I’m not talking about what they took away, I don’t care about that… But a bit of justice where is it?”

She remembered the danger her and her family were in, something that was hardly touched on by the Italian media following the incident.

“That night I had a gun to my head…. I don’t know the beatings I took… kicks, punches and slaps in the face. They tried to suffocate me with their hands…. My son pulled from my arms… Pulled by the hair, 3 men against me.

“Emergency room, 20 days in bed, no insurance reimbursement because in short they have to take the p*ss, even the insurance companies. No newspaper went into it because it was a ‘simple robbery’, you know these things are normal now, you can’t do anything about them, they happen.

“They make a boom with the news and then bye, thank you and goodbye. They blame the people around you and say it’s your fault you brought it on yourself. Oh yeah, that night the Carabinieri arrived and looked to see if anyone was seriously injured, luckily there was no blood… so come on, nothing happened.

“In order for something to happen, someone had to die? And then it’s your fault that you live, work, feel good. Then you’re an asshole and you deserve it. We’re talking about armed people. Not just guns, but is that even possible?

“Foreign people living here and working here, I assure you, to speak Italian so well. Knowing terms I wouldn’t even use. And you don’t do a f**king thing to protect us! Justice. Not for me for us but for all Italians. Who have to live in fear even to walk down the street serenely in Milan’s Duomo.

“Because someone could snatch your bag out of your hands. Your watch. The money from the cash machine. The bags from the shop where you have just bought. Maybe struggling with your salary, where you then pay avalanches of taxes…”

Finally, Cristofoli tried to clarify her words and highlight that she didn’t mean to imply foreigners in Italy were criminals.

“I mean never mind… I’m so tired and angry. I want to make it clear, nothing against foreigners, whether born or who come here to find a better situation. On the contrary. I am the first to support the small business of foreigners as well, so…

“But more checks could be done on everyone (Italians and non-Italians) and if there is a lead at least follow it. Don’t say that it was my grandmother who called the thieves if the people who looked after us had manifestly non-Italian origins. I love you, all of you, and I always respect everyone.

“Ah, by the way, the father of my son is also not Italian. His origins, my friends, our friends, the people who work with me. So, stop trying to find a reason to make drama and hassle me at the start. This is my drama. I am not a writer, I just wrote the truth.

“Should I have said they were Italians if they were foreigners? Maybe they are also Italians of foreign origin but born in Italy. So, no discrimination, that’s enough… I wrote in a moment of anger…

“Anger that haunts me every day after what I’ve suffered, and I don’t wish it on anyone, not even the families of these animals.”
