Adriano Galliani has commented on transfer talk and stated that he hopes January is the month Milan ‘start again’.

The Rossoneri have endured a miserable first half to the season and are currently 11th in Serie A. However, on from a 3-0 win to start the year against Atalanta” data-scaytid=”6″>Atalanta, and the arrivals of Keisuke Honda and Adil Rami, the club’s Vice-President sees cause for optimism.

“We hope that this is the right month in which to start again, we have so many commitments, we hope to do well in the League and the Coppa Italia too,” began Galliani to reporters today.

“Then from February we will even be thinking about the Champions League. When you evaluate seasons, you have to look at them in their entirety.

“I think that there is a good atmosphere, but I do not like to make predictions, so I will not say anymore.

“The transfer market? It is a time when there are thousands of phone calls and now [sporting director] Ariedo [Braida] is no longer here, everyone calls me.

“Matri? For three roles in attack we have nine players, which is too many. A striker may leave in January…

“Essien? There are no negotiations for now. It is a market that I believe many players will move in, many want to change team and clubs will soon be willing to sell.

“There are also new markets, so I believe there will be movement.”

Galliani was talking at Adil Rami’s official presentation to the media today.

“We followed him since he was at Lille, he is a player who can play both at centre-back and full-back. He has been training with us for a bit of time and is ready to give us a hand.

“We had been monitoring his situation at Valencia, [FIFA agent Ernesto] Bronzetti helped us and we were first in for Adil.

“We thank the President of Valencia, with whom we have come to an agreement quickly.

“Rami comes here on loan, with the right to sign him outright and we hope that he will force us to take up that option.”

Rami’s presentation followed that earlier this week of fellow January arrival Keisuke Honda. The fact that both are non-Italian arrivals was brought up.

“At this time there are few clubs with as many Italians on their books, whilst those in our lower ranks have great potential.

“We must focus on young Italian players, we need to discover those players first. We certainly do things differently to a few years ago. Now, we think of the field – the transfer of Rami, having already arrived, and also the arrival now of Honda.”
