Here’s how Italy and Sassuolo star Domenico Berardi suffered a season-ending injury during a 1-0 loss against Hellas Verona on Sunday.
The 29-year-old was forced off the pitch at minute 60 at the Stadio Bentegodi yesterday.
He suddenly fell to the ground while preparing for a shoot from distance.
Sassuolo confirmed on Monday afternoon that the Italy international had suffered a complete lesion of the Achilles tendon and that he would undergo surgery on Tuesday morning.
This means Berardi will miss the rest of the season, including Euro 2024 with Italy.
