Salernitana move towards a solution for the change of ownership, as two trusts have been set up in order to guarantee registration for Serie A 2021-22.

Lazio patron Claudio Lotito must sell the club, as he is not allowed to be the owner of two teams in Italy’s top flight.

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani made a bid to buy Salernitana, but two funds have been set up with former general of the Guardia di Finanza Ugo Marchetti prepared to take on the role as the sole managing director of the team.

Major and Wida are the two trusts that serves the purpose as an irrevocable mandate to sell in six months at a price yet to be defined by a specialised advisor.

If the club has not been sold by the end of the sixth month, it will be sold to the highest bidder, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Salernitana are economically self-sufficient between TV rights, sponsor and credits of approximately €15m, and have no debts.

The club has 12 players under contract and a total salary of €11m including all staff members. Fabiani will remain sporting director with Castori as coach, but are expected to enter the transfer market to reinforce the squad ahead of the new season.
