Tevez just wants us, say Milan

The Rossoneri have made Manchester City an offer for the Argentine after agreeing personal terms with the striker.

City, though, have rejected the Italian outfit’s loan request as they would rather sell outright to a club like Paris Saint-Germain.

“It all depends on Manchester City and the player,” Galliani told Radio Anch’io Lo Sport on Monday. “Manchester want to sell, whereas we want him on loan with an option to buy.

“The player, though, wants to join us and not Paris Saint-Germain. He wants Milan and that is it. We hope he arrives as he’s a player who we really like and we think he could give us a helping hand.”

Should the champions miss out on the South American, then they already have a back-up plan in the shape of Maxi Lopez.

“Yes, he’s the alternative,” Galliani continued. “We’ve already spoken to Catania.

“It seems that there are important and under-rated players in mid-table sides. That was the case with Antonio Nocerino at Palermo and I think that Maxi is a valid alternative to Carlos.

“We’ll see what happens and we are used to last-minute swoops…”

Milan have also been paired with a new stopper after Mario Yepes was sidelined until the middle of March with injury.

“In defence we have got Philippe Mexes back so, despite the injury to Yepes, we think we can manage without bringing in a new defender.

“The good news for the midfield is that Gennaro Gattuso should be back in January and then Mathieu Flamini will also return.

“We are just missing an element numerically in attack. We wouldn’t have done anything had Antonio Cassano not had his problem.”

The Italian international may miss the rest of the season after he underwent minor heart surgery.
