Juventus director Pavel Nedved has no concerns about the hunger of Carlos Tevez after the forward’s admission that he had considered retirement.

The Argentine striker this week stated that he would have perhaps hung up his boots had the Old Lady not done a deal with Manchester City this summer.

“We talked to Carlos a long time ago,” the former Bianconero midfielder commented. “He still has a lot of desire to play football and to do well.

“You can see that enthusiasm in the way he has been training with us.

“Great players, once they have won a lot, need new motivation, new targets and I am happy that he has arrived.

“He instantly demonstrated that he wanted to join us and I liked that a lot.”

The 29-year-old, also formerly of Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Ham and Manchester United, signed a three-year contract this summer.

He has been handed the No 10 shirt in Turin and will thus become the first player to wear that jersey since Alex Del Piero left last year.
