Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic has requested that his players show more courage than they did in their Champions League opener against Paris Saint-Germain when the team host a ‘difficult’ Milan side on Wednesday night.

The Dortmund boss conducted his customary pre-match press conference ahead of the Milan clash on Tuesday afternoon, during which he praised the Rossoneri’s turnaround after a busy period in the summer transfer window.

He also explained why it is so important to pick up a positive result on Wednesday, particularly in what some have described as this season’s ‘Group of Death’.

“In the Champions League no match is easy and we knew that as soon as the draw came out. To qualify you usually need 10 points, which is why it’s important to start well from tomorrow. We’ll face Milan, a difficult opponent, but our fans will help us and I’m sure we’ll put in a great performance,” Terzic told the press.

Dortmund lost their opening game of the 2023-24 Champions League by a margin of two goals to nil against PSG a fortnight ago, whilst Milan claimed a point after a 0-0 draw with Newcastle in San Siro.

“Tomorrow’s match will be completely different,” Terzic continued. “Against PSG we had many worries and we could have made better use of some opportunities. Now we have changed our mentality to face the next match with more courage. And Milan play differently.”

Terzic then went on to name a number of Rossoneri players he expects to be a handful on Wednesday night.

“They have strong players and have made excellent investments despite having lost two very important players. Milan is a strong team, they started well, Pulisic too,” he said.

“And then there is Leao, who is very dangerous on the left with Theo Hernandez. They have something special, a great combination of intensity and technique. A disciplined performance will be required, because they can win matches at any time.”
