Former Milan coach Fatih Terim is pleased Hakan Calhanoglu has joined Inter and explains why he is ‘not surprised’ by the Turkey international’s move.

Calhanoglu has joined the Nerazzurri as a free agent from Milan and the Turkish tactician is not surprised his compatriot swapped the Rossoneri with the Nerazzurri.

“I am pleased, Hakan is like a son to me,” the 67-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’ve been following him since his time at Karlsruhe and he made his senior debut with Turkey when I was the national team coach.

“I still watch him with pride, he is an example for so many kids in Turkey,” the former Milan coach continued.

“It’s nice Hakan could choose his destiny, that’s the nice thing about his transfer. I am not surprised he picked the other team of Milan, he chose Inter to remain at the top, it’s understandable after four years at Milan.

“He knows the country really well and wants to remain at the highest level.”
