L’Equipe recaps all the problems inside the PSG dressing room in the first part of the season, including the poor relationship between Gianluigi Donnarumma and Keylor Navas.

The 22-year-old joined the Ligue 1 giants on a free transfer from Milan last summer.

However, he is not a regular starter in Paris, having played 11 games across all competitions this term.

Last month, his agent Mino Raiola claimed that there were ‘no problems with PSG’ although his client had admitted that the competition with Keylor Navas was ‘disturbing.’

A report from L’Equipe confirms that the relation between the two shot-stoppers is quite poor.

According to the French paper, the relationship between the two is falling apart and the situation will hardly improve in the second part of the season.

However, PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino ruled out problems between them.

“I think that after five months of work, there is a good understanding of the situation. I believe that competition can be healthy. It’s a real competition and there is a good atmosphere in training,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“Everyone is benefitting from it and we must praise our goalkeepers because they have understood the situation and their level can only grow now.”

However, according to L’Equipe, the big egos inside the dressing room are causing problems to the Argentinean coach.

Leo Messi and Leandro Parades didn’t show up for training the day after the Ballon d’Or ceremony, while the club did not sanction Neymar for being late at a meeting with a sponsor.

Also, according to the report, some players do not understand Pochettino and some decisions from the club, such as giving three days off to Mauro Icardi following his marriage problems with Wanda Nara.

7 thought on “Tension at PSG | From Donnarumma, to Messi and Neymar: what’s going on”
  1. Why is everyone surprised at the inability of Pochettino to control his players? He is not a good enough manager for at this level,

  2. Peter

There is no chance any coach could control such group of stars. A single possibility is Zidane because of his great career both as coach and as a player, still even he is under question in the team including such players as Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, Ramos, Icardi and so on. It’s just a superego bomb.

  3. PSG should be questioned for the financial fair play. They are disgusting oil money. I have no respect for players go to this team. I hope Veratti and Donnarumma leave this unhealthy club soon

  4. Statistics don’t lie… Look at Nava’s past, and present. Nava’s is equal but his experience makes him better.
