RB Leipzig manager Domenico Tedesco explains how the ‘Atalanta high press’ causes huge problems, where Duvan Zapata changes matters for his defence and a potential future in Serie A.
The first leg ended 1-1 in Germany, while the decider kicks off in Bergamo at 17.45 UK time (16.45 GMT).

“The first leg was a great game for the spectators. We made the mistake of losing the ball too quickly, not having enough possession, because when you are pinned back into your own area, you need to stay calm and try to pass your way out,” Tedesco told Sky Sport Italia
“Atalanta are also extremely strong on the counter, so they are always dangerous.”
The pace of Christopher Nkunku caused Atalanta problems in the first leg, but while Italian media have La Dea set out in a 4-2-3-1, Tedesco does not believe it.
“Atalanta mark you man for man all over the pitch. I expect them to use 3-4-3 today and press us very high with Koopmeiners and Freuler in midfield, so we’d have a one-on-one with Nkunku.
“It’s true, we need to find the space behind their defence, but also to get there, as if we knock it behind them too early, there’s a big distance and it becomes easier for Demiral and companions to defend.
“The issue is how high the Atalanta press is.”
Duvan Zapata gets the nod upfront this time, having only been fit to come off the bench late on in the first leg, so is there a big difference from Luis Muriel?
“The individual approach remains the same, the strikers run onto the through ball, but Duvan Zapata holds the ball a lot better. Willi Orban is well-prepared, at least that’s what he told me!”
Tedesco was born in Italy and moved to Germany as a child, he still speaks the language fluently, so has he considered an experience coaching in Serie A?
“I am currently here at Leipzig and am very happy, so I am not thinking beyond today’s game. Obviously, Italy is very important to me.”
