The Italian Federation has already pledged its support to the UEFA President in the FIFA leadership contest, but he has now been suspended for 90 days on suspicion of corruption.
The charges relate to a €1.8m payment from Sepp Blatter, which Platini insists is for work done in the 90s, and he will answer the charges at a UEFA meeting on Thursday, possibly by presenting a contract.
“We’re one of the top Federations in the world,” Tavecchio said today.
“We’ll take a decision after we’ve heard things. At the moment there are words, we don’t have an official piece of paper in the Federation.
“We expect a statement from Blatter at UEFA on Thursday, then we’ll decide. It’s not easy to make a decision on such a serious situation.”
