Italian FA President Carlo Tavecchio outlines his economic plan, promising there will be ‘no more cases like Parma.’

The 72-year-old has set several measures in place in order to attempt to balance the books of calcio, and spoke to Radio Anch’io lo Sport about his plans.

“We’re in a great moment of restructuring,” he said.

“I would be arrogant if I said that we will overcome the gap to other countries in terms of economy and infrastructure in a few years, but we are on the right track.

“I would be arrogant if I said that we will overcome the gap to other countries in terms of economy and infrastructure in a few years, but we are on the right track.

“This year we have prescribed some rules to apply to the future, you can’t do everything at once.

“Next year, clubs must submit financial statements that are sustainable and profitable income statements.

“In four years there will be a balanced budget and a correct spending review.

“Without these interventions Italian football can’t hold out, from an economic perspective.

“The bank must cover it, but not right away. You can’t cover €2 billion in a short time. Ours is a four-year plan.

“The budget must be equal for all clubs, who won’t have to sell players in order to buy more. Another case like Parma will not happen.”
