FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio says Antonio Conte’s innocence was “never in question”, as the Italy CT was acquitted in a match-fixing trial.

The Coach had been accused of failing to report a fixed match while in charge of Siena, but today a judge in Cremona acquitted him of the charge.

Both Conte and his assistant Angelo Alessio were cleared of any wrongdoing, having been accused of failing to report that a game with Albinoleffe was fixed in 2011.

“I learned with great satisfaction the acquittal of Antonio Conte today by the court in Cremona,” Tavecchio told reporters.

“Finally his position has been clarified. My confidence in him was never in question. Now we’re all even more focused on the Euros.”

Conte will lead the Azzurri to this summer’s tournament in France, before taking over English Premier League side Chelsea.
