FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio insists Antonio Conte’s Italy “passed the test” by qualifying for Euro 2016.

The 3-1 victory in Azerbaijan mathematically secured their spot in the tournament in France next summer.

“We started out this campaign with good hopes, it was a serious and well-focused journey,” Tavecchio told Rai Sport.

“We passed the test and were promoted, now the doors to Paris open up and we will play our game there too.

“Conte’s philosophy is one of sacrifice and hard work, something that should be part of every Italian’s approach.”
